Why leisurely walks/bike rides will not increase the metabolism!!

I walk every day for 1 mile at a leisurely pace- I lose calories (that can potentially be weight).
I challenge my body with an intense walk/Jog- my body will lose calories and because I am taxing my body mentally& physically ,I will be forced to adapt.
Part of this adaption is an increased and more fine Metabolism.
Biking ''can'' be a challenging exercise, unfortunately many people generally jump on the bike and simply don't challenge their body.
(Definitely not the same way they would with a jog or even 'intense' walk.)
This results with less adaption by the body and your Metabolism!
The concept holds true with any less challenging exercise-
This why its so important to constantly reach for new goals to continuously challenge your body!
